‘Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings.’ Proverbs 22:29

What would you do? Selam’s question, asked while sitting in her sewing workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, still reverberates. What would you do when there are no jobs for you in your home country? Many of my friends emigrated and I almost left to go to a place with the possibility of a better future.

But, Selam stayed in Ethiopia, was given training and capital to start her own business, and she now works with pride and gratitude. I know how blessed I am to have this beautiful work. Now I can work every day to make my dreams come true.

Across the world a lot of young people don’t have access to proper vocational training and work. We aim to give these men and women skills so they can build a sustainable life in their own country. In cooperation with businesses, universities and colleges, we make it possible for these young adults to get an education that equips them for business in their communities and beyond.
